Tradition of Pandan's War at Tengenan Village Bali

It's a tradition for Indigenous Village Community Tenganan Dauh Tukad, Karangasem regency, Bali held a tradition of Pandanus War. Pandan War is an annual tradition in the series of ceremonies held Ngusaba Village, Traditional Village Tenganan Dauh Tukad, about 78 kilometers northeast of Denpasar. The event will be held on July 30, 2010 and will involve dozens of pairs of fighters from the two groups facing each other consisting of children - children, youth and parents.

Pandan War will take place beginning at 13:00 noon, for three hours, before ngusaba village ritual begins. What makes this unique is a weapon of war used, not the form of sharp weapon but with thorny pandan leaves that is in use to fight during the game. Pandan war accompanied by traditional music of Bali as an encouragement, because the louder the sound of gamelan more enthusiasm for attacking the opponent. Besides, this war is accompanied by a song or gending called mekara-kara.

In every game this pandanus war led by a referee in charge to lead the match. Each person will bring a bunch of thorny pandan leaves - average consists of 20 stems of leaves. Besides, everyone else will carry shields made of tree ate that can serve to protect from enemy attack.
